Toyota Philippines
In the Philippines, Toyota has always been one of the most familiar car companies for several years now. For the last three decades or so, the Toyota brand has been part of the Philippine car culture and has been a standard symbol on the road. No matter what the world thinks about the Toyota, it is still one of the most admired and popular vehicle brands all over the world, penetrating European and American markets. You must have remembered that Toyota Land cruisers were used in "Operation Desert Storm".
Toyota Philippines has been very active in the entry-level and luxury car market. Three decades ago, we remember the early Toyota Corollas that have been a favorite of car drivers. Way back then, if you had to have a first car in the Philippines, that car should be a Toyota.
The Toyota Corolla has always been popular and fashionable, adapting to modern trends in its style and feel. In the late 80s, the Corolla sedan became famous for being sturdy. Some Philippine car enthusiasts still keep the classic 1.6 Corolla sedans that came out in the late 80s. In the Philippines, Toyota Corolla models of the late 80s are still seen on the streets.
In present days here in the Philippines, Toyota car models of different types and shapes can be seen everywhere. In fact, even the police vehicles are all Toyotas.
For four years now, the Toyota Corolla Altis is still one of the most dominant sedans in the Philippines. These 1.6- and 1.8- liter engine cars enjoy high esteem among car owners and drivers. Across the Philippines, Toyotas are known not just for their technology and style, but also for their durability. It is not common to talk about durability when speaking about sedans, but this is actually what the Toyota Corolla Altis is all about.
Another popular model released by Toyota Philippines recently is the Toyota Vios. The Toyota Vios is smaller than the Corolla Altis but bigger than the Toyota Echo. What makes the Vios popular nowadays is its value for money. The engine displacement is small--a 1.3 or 1.5 enginer car. However, its stability on the road and its petite elegance makes it a strong contender among good cars in its class.
In the Philippines, from 2004 to 2006, the Toyota Fortuner has gained popularity among the large SUVs due to its form and appeal. When it first came out a few years ago, it has already caught the attention of car enthusiasts. In fact, there has been an unprecedented surge of orders for the Toyota Fortuner. The numerous orders left buyers waiting for nine months to one year to get their Toyota Fortuners shipped in the Philippines.
In the late 90s, Toyota Philippines has come out with a vehicle class that really suits the weather conditions and culture in the Philippines. The company came out with the "Tamaraw FX" model, which sold like crazy upon its release in the car market. The Tamaraw Fx, or Fx in short, was designed to really be an Asian Utility Vehicle or AUV. The AUV was somehow a cross breed between a sedan and a van. The FX can fit 9 persons. Some years later, the original FX model was replaced with the AUV called the Toyota Revo. The Revo had a newer look and an improved engine. Like its Fx predecessor, the Revo also was warmly welcomed in the car market. Afterwards, Toyota Philippines came up with the Toyota Innova, which was considered an upgrade to the Toyota Revo. The Innova still belongs to the AUV class and with it, we see that Toyota has greatly improved its aerodynamics and suitability in the Philippines.
Another reason for the popularity of Toyota in the Philippines is the fact that surplus and spare parts for its vehicles are found in all auto shops nationwide. In the end, car owners want quick accessibility to the needs of their cars. Toyota Philippines has been successful making their vehicles a part of the Philippines driving and car culture. In all major cities and provinces in the Philippines, Toyota car showrooms and dealers are present everywhere. This makes Filipinos feel at home with Toyota.
