PHilippine Mountain Climbing, Trekking and Hiking Vacations

The best treasures in the Philippines are found beyond the end of the road. Only by hiking and trekking these places can be reached. It’s a hidden away place where crystal water plunge over breathtaking falls and aborigines find their home as in the past centuries.

There can be found cliffs towering above crashing surfs, virgin forests, clear rivers, mossy jungles and cool mountain ridges. Only trekkers experience the exhilaration of conquering the heights of Mt. Apo. Or passing through the scary moon-like landscape of Mt. Pinatubo.

These experiences, and many others, are awaiting those who want to leave the road, carry their packs and trek the Philippines.

Mountaineering in the Philippines is a unique and a plentiful experience. Just like trekking and following a river.

For the expert climber, some areas do demand that rock climbing and rappelling skills be put to use.

For nature lovers, the rewards are many. More than fifty climb, trek and river tail sites are sure to delight the adventurers.

Most famous mountains in the Philippines are Mt. Pulog, Mt. Mayon, Mt. Halcon, Mt. Apo and Mt. Banahaw.

A ferry ride away or bus ride to Bataan. great view of Manila Bay from a top. same are as the historical site of Mt. Samat. Limatiks abound. insurgency can be a problem.

Taal Volcano - Batangas

South of Manila is the province of Batangas, blessed with nuemrous peaks and coral laiden shores. Below are nuemrous peaks in Batangas. This is the mountain on the opposite of Tagaytay ranges is the favorite among weekend warriors.

An easy climb with the most reward of a commanding view of the infamous Taal Volcano and it's lake. on the other peripheral half is the view of Balayan Bay where Anilao is located. Trails are badly worn out and more and more becoming of a commercial trail esp during summer.

Taal Volcano: a dark, little history of a dark, little Philippine volcano A personal story and experience with Taal.

Mt Makulot Mountain Hiking: a beginner's step

The year was 2002, and I've only started mountain hiking.

Back in the summer of that year I only had two climbs under my belt? Arayat in Pampanga and Batulao in Batangas? so I still didn't fully appreciate the natural beauty of these towering gems.

That is, until I saw Mt. Makulot.

It was only by a twist of fate and God's providence that I was able to join erwin's pinatubo trek/climb last weekend.

Up to friday afternoon, I have almost given up on the trip, what with a big presentation looming over us early in the coming week.

But join it I did and it was long, arduous, but a thoroughly unforgettable experience.

I was supposed to travel to Cambodia and Vietnam as part of my yearly travel in time for my birthday but the bird flu that struck those countries that time made me change my plans.

And I was not regretting my decision
