Location

The Calypso Diving Resort is located at Balabag, Boracay Island 5608, Malay, Aklan, Philippines.

The Resort is centrally located along Boracay's 4-km stretch of White Beach and Boat Station 2, very near the tourist centre.

Direction to Other Sites

Walking inland towards the Boracay Main Road takes only 5-minutes where public transportation may be accessed.

The Talipapa (flea market), which starts along White Beach moving inland, is 5 minutes walk from Boat Station 2.

Fairways and Bluewaters Golf Course is 10 minutes by tricycle north of Boat Station 2 via the Boracay Main Road.

Nearest airports at Caticlan is a 20 minute outrigger boat ride, while Kalibo airport takes an additional 90 minutes by air conditioned bus. Both Caticlan and Kalibo are 55 minutes south of Manila by plane.

Calypso Boracay Diving Resort consists of the following Boracay accommodations in a hotel type.
Standard Rooms
There are seven (7) standard rooms which are fully air-conditioned with bright and spacious rooms with its own terrace overlooking the gardens.
The standard rooms are ideal for 1 or 2 people although guests can avail of additional beds when necessary.
Junior Suites
There is one (1) Junior Suite fully air-conditioned and fitted with kitchen and lounge area.
This is a two level studio with an upstairs bedroom perfect for one person or a couple. Both rooms overlook the gardens.
Deluxe Room
There is one (1) deluxe room which is full air-conditioned offering two levels with an upstairs bedroom.
The room has a large terrace overlooking the gardens perfect for 2 or 4 people.
Pinjalo Boracay Suite
The suite is a beautifully designed two-bedroom apartment with two large bathrooms, fitted kitchen, lounge and dining area.

The Wreck Bar

The Wreck Bar is an in-house bar and restaurant serving local and international dishes by the poolside overlooking the powdery white sand beach.

After hard training underwater, relax and enjoy an ice cold drink and a meal at the poolside.

At sunset, enjoy Mongolian Bar-b-q, some ice cold cocktails and the view.

The Sports Bar

Training Pool

The training pool is situated right at the beach. This onsite training pool makes the difference to your confined water sessions which will condition you to actual diving later.

Dive Sites

There are 30 dive sites surrounding the island of Boracay and neighboring islands.
Most dive sites are between 10 minutes to one hour away.

The Center offers up to 10 different sites a day at the option of the diver with guidance and a little advice from the instructors.

The following are some of the dive sites:

Yapak 2

Yapak 2 is just a 15 minutes boat ride to the north end of the island. The wall starts at 32 meters.

Big fishes like the Grey and White Tip Reef Sharks and Giant Trevally feed in this area due to its natural upwelling. Experience is needed due to strong currents.

Chimney

The Chimney is just a 15 minutes boat ride. It is a deep wall and aptly called due to a huge swim through at 40 meters up to 32 meters.

Shark Cave

The Shark Cave is a deep drift dive with the cave at 36 meters. Diving is usually done on a falling tide.
Crocodile Island
The Crocodile Island is just a 15 minutes boat ride. This wall starts at 4 meters and runs down to 20+ meters.

Top of the wall is filled with soft corals set in small canyons - perfect for those lazy safety stops. 

The wall itself has an abundance of corals and smaller schooling fish such as - fusiliers, banner fish, Moorish idols, rabbit fish, and snappers.

A small cave can be found at 14 meters with sweeper fish. 

Laurel

The Laurel dive site is 20 minutes from Calypso. This wall is like a series of small steps starting from 5 meters to about 25 meters.

The wall is covered with soft and hard corals, nudibranches, and pipefish which are a dream for photographers.

 

Dive Courses

The Resort covers all ranges of PADI sanctioned diving courses from PADI Seal Team to Instructor Level.

The team of experienced Instructors believes in the “PADI Start Today Philosophy” and is there to answer questions and start the course when you walk into Calypso. 

Children as young as 8 years old can start learning how to scuba dive with the PADI Seal Team Program and eventually become pro then accelerate to the Instructor Level.

If your stay is limited yet you want to try and experience the programs or are interested in becoming a certified diver, then the center can adjust its program accordingly.

Nitrox Diving

State of the Art Compressor & O2 Membrane

The Verticus 5 is the top of the range Bauer compressor and working together with the Oxygen membrane allows filling of enriched air tanks through a system called mixing by membranes.

This is a very efficient and safe method of gas blending.

Analyzing Station   

The Center’s Alpha Analyzing Station makes for easy and accurate analysis of the Nitrox tanks.

Rebreathers

The Center’s Rebreathers are Drager, Ray and Dolphin models.  There is separate classroom for Nitrox and Rebreather courses.

Calypso offers the NRC Semi-closed Rebreather Course for those that fancy some silent diving.

Try our Dolphin Rebreathers as an introductory dive or become certified in 4 days.

(IDC) Instructor Development Course

In the comfort of the spacious air-conditioned classrooms you will be taught about 'Learning Instruction and the PADI System' and how to give classroom presentations.

The classrooms are also open at all times, allowing candidates to study in peace and quite. You will learn how to present and conduct confined water and open water dives.

Calypso's facilities will allow you to practice your confined water in the onsite training pool and confined open water conditions.

This is so in order for you to cover all angles for your use during the upcoming Instructors Examination.

Dive Safaris and Excursions

Dive Safaris to Panagatan, Maniguin, and other islands can easily be arranged. 

Calypso Diving offer day trips and 2-3 day safaris to some of the best diving sites in the Philippines.

Enjoy encounters with Mantas, Eagle Rays, Grey Reef and White Tip Sharks and the occasional sighting of Whale Sharks.

Some of these dive sites offer spectacular wall diving teeming with marine life, displaying a vast variety of soft and hard corals.
